Arriving cosmically right-on-time for the solstice, “Emergence” is the first single from Tycoon‘s forthcoming solo LP Heavy Times. The track is a sublime downtempo number that harnesses a beautiful serenity and brings the vibes that are much needed in this unprecedented moment in time.

Tycoon is Tyler Coomes, accomplished hip-hop producer/percussionist and older brother to Erick “Jesus” Coomes, bassist/co-founder of Lettuce, who is featured on this warm and inviting lead single. “Emergence” drops on the heels of Tycoon’s massive “Moksha” redux on Lettuce’s Resonate Remixed.

On percussion, Tycoon has shared the stage and studio with Lettuce for many years, and the brothers have also collaborated with DJ QuikThe Game, and Anthony Hamilton, among others. The sibling chemistry is apparent on this lush, longing track that features Jesus’ debut on lead vocals, with Tycoon’s steadily pulsating drums steering a ship of shimmering pianos, summery saxophone, Gospelized-choruses, filtered-basslines, and heart-filling sentiments.

“This song is essentially about remaining hopeful, maintaining a positive vibe & outlook right now, in the midst of the uncertainty and fearfulness,” Tyler said of the single. “Knowing that TOGETHER, we can, must and WILL ‘emerge from this emergency’. It’s Jesus’ gentle, loving message to a hurting world.

“‘Emergence’ is about becoming; it’s about accepting the past and the present moment in their fullness, allowing the newness of life to constantly flow,” Jesus added. “It’s about going from one state to another; from one place to the next; one moment into the now.”

Jesus is wildly-popular for his inspired bass playing with Lettuce, as well as his jubilant onstage personality; however, this cut reveals a tender, emotional side of Erick that some fans may not be familiar with. The smooth sensations are subtly enhanced by Lettuce saxophonist Ryan Zoidis, who appears on several tracks throughout Heavy Times, due February 1st, 2021.

In addition to the brothers Coomes and Zoid, “Emergence” was brought to life by all-star keyboardist Kenneth Crouch (Lenny Kravitz, Eric Clapton, Karl Denson, Mariah Carey), guitarist Ryan Crosby, and vocalists Sy Smith and Gene Miller. On the forthcoming Heavy Times, fans can look forward to contributions from past and present members of Lettuce, Break Science, Cree Summer, Chris Karns, Khris Royal, and many more from coast to coast.
