Episode 005 of *The Upful Life Podcast* is live & direkt! This particular show goes deep and gets heavy with NOLA artist/activist Katrina Brees. I've known Karina for over 15 years, and have long been a fan of her provocative creations, fabulous parade krewes, and the salient messages they carry. Katrina is the Mother Shucker of the Bearded Oysters Parade Club, and has been behind projects like the Mardi Bra, Greening the Gras (eco friendly Carnival throws), Fantastic Casket (upcycled casket-making), among others. The end of her interview, the tone takes a turn for the serious as we discuss the June 2018 suicide of her mother Donna Nathan, and how that tragedy has propelled Katrina into action with "Donna's Law." Nearly 100 minutes long, this powerful powwow might be the one I am most proud of. Segment begins at 50mins.
